Temperature control is a crucial aspect in the field of automation and control systems. This study aims to design and develop a room conditioning system that can serve as an educational tool for understanding temperature control concepts using the Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) method. The system utilizes a DS18B20 digital temperature sensor for temperature detection, an Arduino Uno microcontroller as the processing and control unit, and two 4-pin DC fans as actuators. Based on the temperature data obtained, a PID algorithm is implemented to automatically regulate fan speed in order to maintain the room temperature at a predetermined setpoint. Temperature and fan speed information are displayed in real-time via an LCD screen and are also monitored through a MATLAB-based graphical user interface. This system is designed to respond adaptively to temperature changes and maintain thermal stability efficiently, esting results show that the PID parameters K6, K₁=0 K=0 are able to control the temperature effectively within 2 minutes and 49 seconds, resulting in 0% overshoot and 0% steady-state error (SSE). Furthermore, the developed system is deemed suitable as a learning medium for temperature control, supported by a questionnaire result of 92.8%. Therefore, the designed system is considered appropriate for educational purposes in learning temperature control using PID.
