Desain Dan Implementasi Time-Tagged Serial Data Acquisition Unit Untuk Survey Hidrografi Berbasis Unmanned Surface Vehicle
Hydrographic surveys using Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs) require high-resolution spatiotemporal data to ensure navigational safety and support marine research. One of the primary challenges in such operations is achieving accurate and synchronized timestamping across multiple onboard sensors, especially those using asynchronous serial interfaces. This study presents the design and implementation of a cost-effective, open-source time-tagged serial data acquisition (DAQ) unit based on the STM32F407VET6 microcontroller. The system integrates three UART-based sensors, including a GPS receiver for position and time reference, an IMU and magnetometer for attitude measurement, and a waterproof ultrasonic sensor for depth estimation. Time synchronization is achieved using the Pulse Per Second (PPS) signal from the GPS module, enabling sub-microsecond alignment with UTC time. The DAQ unit formats sensor data with corresponding timestamps then transmitted via USB for monitoring and logging. Testing confirms that the system achieves time-tagging accuracy with a mean drift of 47.94 με, making it suitable for low-cost hydrographic survey applications and educational deployments.
